Dremel Type Rotary tools?

Can anyone recommend a decent dremel type tool and what do you use yours for?
I've just lent one off a mate to clean up my heads, i'm not planning on polishing and porting them just tidying off years of soot from the ports!. Anyway i thought great i'll get my own but was shocked at how pricey they are. The Dremel 300 was about £40 for the basic tool and a few accessories, and think the dremel 400 was around double this.
Are the cheaper branded tools just as good? Halfords sell 1 for £25 (but they didn't have any in) and Argos sell a clarke version for £30. Am i just aswell paying the extra for a dremel or will a cheaper one be just as good?

Go for a dremel

I've had 2 own brand types and then bought a dremel. The others just didn't have the torque, quality or reliability IMO.

The Dremel kicks their asses lol.

Maplins sell them too - mines OK but the bits etc. that come with it aren't that great - but I don't use it that often so 30 quid was well spent -

Have been told that the 1's that B&Q sell as there own brand (performance?) are re-packaged Black & Decker. Think its £30 with about 50 + accessories.
Think i might try 1 of these as dont really think i'll be using it all that much but will be useful to have!
