Re: accident repair

Glad ya found someone. I know what you mean about the scene. Its crap up here too. Maybe its worse the further north you go.

Just make sure whatever he quotes you, you get him to write it down so that he can't back track on it.

Hope it gets sorted love.

Re: accident repair

yea i guessed it may be more, he says he will let me know. Hopefully it wont cost too much more.

I hope its back for dubfreeze. Its killing me already not being able to drive because of my wrist but its made worse by having a beetle shaped void outside.

Re: accident repair

i totally dont understand some people. The guy from the garage rang me to say i had to go have a look at the car cos it wasnt well. I went down and he showed me how shoddy the workmanship was that had gone into it. It looked as if the inner panel where the wheel goes had rotted thru, rather than just putting in a new panel, someone had just riveted a plate to it, over the months it had come loose and was hanging on by one rivet. He explained that he couldnt believe someone would go to so much trouble and money to restore a car and do this. The panel itself was only £35 to buy. Anyways, hes gotta replace not only the wheelarch, bumper, and front valance, hes replacing the inner wheel arch on the left side and the inner panel on the wheel well. Hopefully, that is ALL that will need replacing. He says he will have it done for dubfreeze too. YAY..

Added bonus is that the guy is quite fit, might have to break cars more often

Re: accident repair

Hate to say it, but it might not be a bad idea to get the guy to have a look at the rest of the car too. It does sound like its been done very much on the cheap and whilst poor work done to none structural panels are an annoying bodge that will rust through quickly and just ruin the finish, it could be a sign of some more serious defects / bodges that could be safety critical.

Re: accident repair

lol, ur just evil.

Yea i asked him to check the rest out, he said the rest looked fine, it was just this bottom panel. I think he hit the nail on the head when he said from the looks of the filler and damage already it looks as if its been hit at the front before and theyve just bodged it.

I watched the love bug on telly the other nite, that film just fills me with dissapointment. Obviously doesnt show the bad bits about owning herbie.
