accident repair

Totally pissed off to high heavens now. my NEW, ONE DAY OLD beetle has been hit on the front wing, from the side. It has cracked and pushed the wheelarch into the front panel under the bonnet. Can this be repaired??? im totally shitting myself now at the thought that it cant be. I dont care how much it costs. Are they generally easy to repair?? Is there anything that cant be repaired. Its driving fine, just the wheelarch and bottom panel.

I would like to point out too that this WAS NOT MY FAULT lol. I have never smashed a car up in my life or damaged one.

This was my brother, the chav, the boy racer, the im so good at driving i passed my test a year ago. He 'didnt' see it when he reversed out of the drive.

Theres always something that steals my sunshine.

My dad pinned me to the floor because as he pulled the car over he said I ant dun nowt at me, i grabbed his throat and tried to drag him thru the window in hysterics.

I dont care how much its gunna cost, my brothers paying for it. I seriously hope he has learnt his lesson. He has no respect for anyone on the road, he threw the car out of the drive, he didnt even look. If he hadnt have hit me then he would be in some total shit with some angry neighbour. Being 20 and in first year of driving doesnt go down too well wtih insurance.

Re: accident repair

How gutting!

Simple answer yes it can be repaired but your in for a new wing, front valence (possibly the spare wheel well or a complete front clip if its got the inner wing too).

Either way, theres some welding & paint to do.

Its not going to be very cheap but it is repairable.

Re: accident repair

how much you talking just from looking at it? just so i can get my brothers bank account ready.

From what i can tell it hasnt really damaged anything inside the wheel well, I think its just shunted the bottom panel and cracked a lot of the paint.

Re: accident repair

From here that looks like filler thats cracked so likely to be hiding some rot so you may find it difficult to just fit the outer valence.

Does the bonnet shut ok still? Open it and offer it up against the catch and see if its still aligned. Has the inner wing been creased at all between the wing & door?

Worst case scenario is wing, front clip / valence and inner wing repair, headlamp surround, welding, prep and paint.

£150-200 in parts, at least the same again in fitting and paint an easy £500 i'd reckon.

Re: accident repair

Just to complicate matters in the usual blueexon style, your wing is a mish mash, as 1200 wings have a horn grill fitted but no bumper slot, or you have a large bumper slot but no horn grill, not sure if yours is modified or just a german/non uk spec, either way your going to have to get a hole made in the wing you buy
Classic VW auto parts, VW spares, VW accessories
i would say yours is the no 5 with a horn grill added for the herbie effect, anyone else agree?
bug looks nice apart from the obvious tho
