New Floor 72 Karmann Ghia

Hi,

I need a new floor installing in my 72 Karmann Ghia.... could anyone advise me as the best option - can a mobile welder carry out this task or will it need a dedicated vw restorer ?

cheers, Andy.

You could get a mobile welder to do it but you'd pay a lot less for a vw specialist to do it.
Pan halves are pretty easy to do.
Ghia ones are difficult to get hold of as theyre wider than standard bug ones but it's possible to modify a bug one to make it fit & look right.

Re: New Floor 72 Karmann Ghia

If it's only the welding you can't do, then cut out the old and fit the new using self tappers, then pay someone to weld them in properly. I used a complete pan half in mine and it wasn't too bad, but it did show up that the heater channel was rotten too.
