Porsche brakes 1303

Ive found someone who says he will ship me some 4-pot callipers and all the bits i need to do a full (front and rear) porsche brake conversion.

the price he has given me sounds too good to be true and i just want to make sure that he has the full list of bits i will be needing.

this came aboout because i wanted wheel adapters for my new twists, then when i saw the price i realised im half way to getting the conversion.

i'd be doing the work myself and understand that theres a bit of modification doing on the rear..

can anyone offer me any advice or tell me the hardest part to do (maybe even offer to come and help me when im ready- for a price of course)

this is all thanks to jinx who made me do some research on it.

Re: Porsche brakes 1303

id help you if you were local
are these off a 944?
if so you have to get the 944 handbrake cables, the use the inners of them cut the end off that goes to handbrake inside car, thread through the beetle outers, then you end up with 2 cables inside you have to buy the beetle ends that you can clamp/ bolt on, there about a fiver.
just cut and adjust to fit the length, thats the only work you have to do buddy?
not 100 percent on the front but check out
performanceghia.co.uk
this guy has all the info on his site

Re: Porsche brakes 1303

ok well on rear you need:
944 rear hubs
944 backplates
944 discs
944 calipers, thats fine then.
Porsche had single pots of 4 pots i believe the rear as long as he has all the set up will work fine,
on the front n adapter has to be made as you use beetle spindle onto 944 hub disc then make a plate from beetle caliper holes to the new caliper holes. i think
they will slide straight on, try and get hub bearings off him too but im pretty sure there the same as beetle ones. ive just done this myself bought my kit of the dude who made that website.

Re: Porsche brakes 1303

you wanna make sure you get the steel rear arms as they have the seperate caliper mounting bracket, the ali arms have it built in.

I have 4 pots on mine, the stopping is excellent, Im using a beetle 1500 master cylinder and its fine.

You got the benefit, porsches use mcpherson struts and so does your 1303, so that should make the conversion a bit easier.

The brakes aint on ebay are they? a red set hand painted?
