ok, so i have a 1303 and got those 2" lowering springs to drop the front end a bit. im not happy with my 2" drop.

i have been looking at the 3" springs but i hear that you need shorter dampers with them and theyre expensive £300ish

normally i'd just cut & shut the old dampers but i also think it could do with being a bit stiffer..

so i want to know how much stiffer are the spax dampers are and are they worth it?

then i got thinking that i should just buy some fully adjustable front struts, then saw how much money they were off machine 7 ...

so i tried looking at second hand and couldnt find any.. but did find plenty of mk1 golf struts for cheap and the new (budget) ones are only £200 (and you get the rears)

1. so i want to know is are the mk1 golf struts the same as the 03's (im up for a bit of modification)

2. if not then can anyone lend (or sell very cheap) a mk1 golf front strut (wouldnt mind looking at the front hub either).

3. unless anyone knows where i can get a pair of budget coilovers for the 03??

I've dropped several 1303's on 3 inch spring and stock dampers no probs.

Now I had an '03 with a 3" drop, and it was constantly banging on the bump stops, so I'd recommend shorter inserts.

Kyle, do you know if these can be used in standard struts?
