I'm going to look at a van this weekend....a 71 dormobile from a guy at work. It's just had some welding done....and he says it needs spraying.
My question is this......how much will that cost me? ...I know, I know, how long is a peice of string, but I'd like to have a ballpark figure in my head. It's not going to be a show car or anything.....just wants a spray over the outside in the original colour.
Failing that......anyone local(ish) who you would recommend I ring for quotes?
Maybe someone even knows the van?....he's a local Lad...Neil Foster his name is. The van was at Vfestival last year .....'twas a blue one.

a cheap blow over will cost around £600. Materials to paint a van are in the region of £150 at least depending on colours and quality.
A good respray is around £2-3000.
The cost comes from lots of materials (around £500) and lots of labour in prep work (many many hours).
You can often get the costs down by doing the prep work yourself but this can make or break a paint job.
If your not fussed about finish and just want some colour on your van you could always hand paint in household exterior gloss (around £10 plus a gloss roller) or in coach paint (around £30 plus a paintbrush).

last one I got painted was 1k - self prep & twas a top job
Even doing stuff like stripping the van etc will help cut the costs. Most of the time/£ is in the prep (took 6 weeks of evenings for the above one) so it depends on how well the welding's been done tbh
If you give them a complete van to strip, prep paint & refit youre probably looking at 2-3k for a good job
