find in scrapyard

Was looking for some car bits the other day and found a really pretty 1972 beetle. The guy wanted £400 for it. I asked if all the bits were there, it had new heat exchangers and exhaust thrown on the backseat, the engine looked fine and it even started the first time. Im not sure about it though, i dont wanna fall into a trap like i did with the beetle ive got now, it might look nice but look like crap underneath and the engine might run shit. Im unsure what to do now, il get some photos if i call down again. It was just a strange find as ive been down a few times and never seen anything like this there.

and it wasnt a right off or anything, its the scrapyard owners son that bought it as a project at college but never got time for it

thats what i was thinking cos surely someone would pay more than £400, its tax exempt and to be honest the actual interior and outside of the car looked better than mine which has been part restored. Hes definately not breaking it for parts cos i asked him if he was selling any parts off it. Hopefully no one else has seen it lol

ill probably only get about £20 for him. He doesnt have much floor left so its not gunna be worth much. Hes served me well these past few weeks. Done 180 miles from barnsley to stoke and back 3 or 4 times. Doesnt even have a working water pump. Arent scrapyards sad places, bit like a cemetery. Im gunna get my mate to come and have a look underneath the beetle to see if any welding needs doing and if it does whether he can do it.

You would probably get 50 70 quid just for weighing it in. Might as well ask him. A trade in would be good - might even make you money.
