insurance not an issue, it aint tax exempt though. you may be able to make it tax exempt if it has a 1967 chassis, not sure though.

tbh if the chassis is knackered get a tax exempt bug an swap the body over and scrap the existing one.

or wait for a better one

But dont understand why its a 1982 registered but a vin number of a 1967 bug ?

I am looking for a buggy to do up or a nearly finished one, if anyone knows of any ?

there are alot of reasons why a 67 bug gets re registered when it becomes a buggy, the main one being the sva test, deciding on whether there is enough of the original car left to still claim exemption, most kit cars fall at this hurdle, like the buggy you went to see. my solution to the problem was to do it myself, hence this

then becomes this

but i used as much as possible from the original car, speak on www.beachbuggy.org about it, lots of guys on there have built buggy and still keep the original details, i found it made the best sense, now could someone please delete my no plates as i dont know how too

what's the make and model on the v5?
1982 was probably when the buggy was originally built

Make and model Volkswagon
Date of First Registration 10 08 1982
Year of Manufacture 1982
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1493CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Petrol

As above from memory but nothing other than volkswagon, no make etc
But it has the 1967 vin number on the log book.?
Think it was registered in 1982 for the log book and has been on the road, but never done as a 1967 as the 25yr classic tax was not in then, ?
Dont really know ?
Just if i had it, could it be re registered as a 1967
Had insurance quote but its in kit car price not classic....lots of pennys.
Oh BTW i am 38 and like low insurance lol..

i have to admit i built my own also. thing is if it was deemed on the points system not to be much of the original car left (which is actually pretty tough) or they realised it was on a modified (shortened) chassis they would have given it a Q plate.

my other thought is that it may have been off the road and dropped off the DVLA system, so was registered in 82 with a new plate.

do you have pictures of it, and how much is it going for?

I think your all show off's lol.

No mate i havent no pic's at the moment and its going for £1100,

The V5 is going to go through the DVLA now after the owner at the moment phoned up and it turns out that its a 1966 ( 11-12-66 ) Vw Beetle, but they said after conferming and explaining that its a buggy they sent through the forms to send off to the DVLA and change it from a Beetle to a Mk2 LWB Buggy.
So it will Tax free and classic ins.
