flooding would be indicated by misfire and blacksmoke out of the exhaust. best have a look at the sparkplugs to see what colour they are after a run on petrol.
the electrode should be light brown/grey, if it is black/sooty to rich, if white/clean to weak.

Hello
I have changed all my plugs and they are all light brown so i guess the mix is right, could it be anything to do with the carb. Cos a mechanic said somthing about first and second stage in the carb and that the second stage dunna work right. Not sure if he is used to dealing with these engines, but i guess he might be right. I hope not cos a new carb costs
What do you wreckon?

it is more likely fuel starvation check the accelerator pump squirts petrol into the carb when you open the accelerator ( engine turned off, air cleaner off and a mirror and torch may be needed to see down inside the carb). when you open the throttle there should be a squirt of fuel down the centre of the carb.
