RONNIE has a new front panel

had this van about three years now and yeah it has cost a fortune but hey -ho and all that . i have learned to do many things in the time we have had it and thanks to all that have helped and given advice .
the front panel was scaby when we got it but as each year came by with a little help from some filler i managed to get another 12 months out of it , until now the front panel had totally died and it was getting a little drafty in the front .

so me and my trusty friend and son beanie started to take it to bits cutting away were we had to across the top of the panel it just fell away .
we have never attempted nothing like this before so we wanted to do it on our own to learn it for ourselves , after reading through the stevesvwworld page on replacing front panel we thought it dont sound too bad
beanie always says to me ' not another of one of those easy jobs again dad '
plenty of measuring was involved and after fitting a new inner panel we test fitted the front panel

the panel itself wasn't too bad a fit but a little short around by the pillars which makes the gap by the doors a bit big but i got a tip off rob resto for that little problem .
after much use of the mole grips and drilling of many holes we finally got it welded in place

then last night after a bit of a fight with the windscreen rubber we amnaged to size up the window to see if all our measuring was right

time for a ciggie here after all the hard work
then tonight it was time to have a go at fitting the windscreen for real so it is water tight for the winter

and tonight it was done all fitted in on the 3rd attempt after lining it up properly
now thats done i reckon i can now start taking advice on how to do the rear arches next

p.s please don't piss on my bonfire tonight if i have done anything wrong cause me and beanie are really chuffed at the moment , let us enjoy our day
AND THANKS ALOT BEANIE even though i know it will cost me

Looks like a nice neat job, well done!

Now get some seam sealer in the inside joint and some paint (proper paint not just primer and sand off the black stuff first) on asap or you'll be replacing it again next year!

Reckon your right to be chuffed tho, the good thing is that rear arches are a peice of piss compared to a front panel as they line up much more easily!
