Will a mk4 Golf seat fit on 1303 runners?

Hey all, I have got a 3 point mounting recaro from a mk4 golf gti and whilst pondering ways to fit it into my car, it occured to me that the runners are not dissimilar to the late 3 point seat runners as found on 73 on bugs (late 1200, 1302, 1303). Anyone know if it can be fitted, as it will make a difference to which pans I fit in my bug!

Thanks!

Dont know if it's any help , but Mk1 GTI seats dont. I had a 1303 with Mk1 seats in and the base had been chopped and welded to fit ?

Yes and no. The rear legs and the front mount will work with late bug 3 point runners (or type 3's for that matter) however you will probably find that the width between the rear legs is not the same as the pan. you'll need to widen or narrow the legs on the seat to suit.

when i shoved some audi coupe seats in the fasty i had to cut one of the leg supports, bend the legs out a bit and re weld it. took about 20 mins and the sits were perfect.

i've got a pair of rocco seats altered to
fit a bug if you want to strip the bases
and swap 'em for standard golf ones.
need the seats/covers though cos they're
rocco GT II which are rocking horse shit.

My bug has renault5 turbo seats in!

The guy I bought it from put them in - he just welded a bit of square tubular steel onto the floorpan, and drilled holes to suit. So anything can be made to fit if you want to.......

Do any Golf sets fit 3 point Beetle fixings - No.
You can buy Universal mounts which fit beetle 3 points and then mount your seats on the mounts and there you have it.
Except - the Unversal mounts ae heavy and alter the seat adjustment an dthey probably mount yoiur seat too high.

Get some original 1302/3 late bug seats rebuilt.
