***A-FRAME & TOW BOARD***

I have just bought an A-frame and tow board to bring my bug back from the workshop, and rather than have it sit in the shed forever (or til next MOT time ) i thought i would make it available to anyone who wants to borrow it.

The A-frame is to fit standard beetles only (not 02/03) and the towing board has got all the lights fitted and a 5 metre lead for the electrics

It is technically free if anyone needs to borrow it, but i would ask that a £5 donation is made to the Ben Bosworth Memorial Fund.

If you ever need to borrow it, either send me a pm or give me a ring on 07833330914

just to add - i've got a 'generic' recovery style a-frame here, in Derby. its the chain/ratchett strap type - so i wouldn't recommend it for towing long distances but if you need to get a car moved fairly locally or whatever then its pretty good... i've used it on polos, a peugeot 205, and towed my bay a short distance with it.

same deal - if anyone wants to borrow them and its more convenient here, then feel free.

what is the legal situation of using an A-Frame to tow a car, to my understanding isnt it illegal to use towing equiptment that doesnt have an independent braking system when towing vehicles over 750kg.

Im going to need to use something to tow a beetle when i get one and i noticed this thread and thought what a great idea, but id hate to get in trouble for doing so.

Can anyone shed any light on the matter?
