This de-chromed 1303 (1300tp) is ever so close to getting fully restored but being in the military I get moved about all the time so as Im off to Scotland, its got to go.
I bought this before I joined (a year ago) with the intent of getting it sorted before I lost the joys of my dads garage etc, but on the MoT it failed on a minor bit of welding work and the headlights weren't working. These have all been rectified so should breeze through it.
Its a very solid car: no rust or bubbling in the usual places, but as this was my first go at painting etc, the bonnet, lid, and n/s wing could do with being redone as its not perfect (these are the only bits bar the front valance that i touched, the rest was professionally done before i got it). I got a bit too carried away when taking the old paint off, leaving scores on. Still, its a great looking car.
As you can see from the picture the rear valance needs welding on. I have one and have sprayed it already, but it has a ding in the corner.
The engine was in my other 1300 bug and has done me very proud, an excellent runner, but since putting it in this 1303 I haven't managed to get it to settle as it wont idle for me. I was going to sort this before taking it for the MoT, but ran out of time.
The inside needs carpets and a rear seat, and the lining and door panels are good.
Points to highlight:
Solid car, no welding required-you could send for an MoT now
Has Porche cookie cutters in good condition with 4 centre caps-dont know if theyre originals (how do you tell?)
Tyres are excellent quality with loads of tread (Michelin at rear, Pirelli front)
Has pertronix electronic ignition

thats a shame, whe n was it registered on the v5, might be lucky, or have you already tried germany for the build date?
