Looks alright, what you got planned for her apart from the obvious oh and whats the spec on the type 4? even standard should push it along nicely I would expect especially with a 1300 box!

sort of budget resto cal!
std wheels all round fats and small tyres
droped at the front
mot
thats about it !
cant spend much, need to keep my £££s for the bus resto !!!

engine wise - upright cooling
i have a used 1800 to try that on and de-bug the setup
then i have a 2056cc t4 for the bus, andy c built it and i need it running while i restore the bus,
thats a 2056 flat top piston setup
1800 heads
e grind cam
thoes 40 dells
hi-po oil pump
and that turbo thomas exhaust

id like to get that run in and debugged for when the bus is done!
i have a unknown hi lift cam and some 1911 Bs & Ps in the shed and another set of dells for when everything is finished and all the engines are in the right place !

already got a few variations of the cooling id like to try when i get the time
going for the 'next generation' cali cooling setup, straight from the book first

may get to have a go at this then!

got these t'other day

but they are a bit wide at the back!

ill have to fit short rear axles back on as the previous owner has fitted late 4 bolt running gear all round - dont ask how the front beam is fitted!

anyway
engine and gear box out

see the difference in length?

and the difference in splines too

so heres what iv done so far and how i did it - i suspect there lots of otherways to do it tho
with the gearbox removed, and the brakes removed while the it was on the car! its time to remove the long shafts and tubes
first up is losen the axle retainers

and the bearing retainers at the other end

some times the nust undo from the studs - sometimes the studs come out with the nuts!

remove the bearing retainers and note the spacer orentaition

then the brake backing plates

then the bearings

take a bit of winding!

again, note the spacer and orentation

the outer tube should now slide off
note the packing gaskets, especially if your refitting the tubes, it will give you a good starting point!
this one had 1 gasket

the other side had 2
also remove the spacing 'flower'

remove the retaing cir clip

i dont have a pair of pliers long enough. so ive modified the ends of a pair of long nose pliers to do the job!

remove circlip
washer
and remove shaft, sometimes the gear comes with the shaft just remove the lot and then take off the gear with the whole thing out
you can drop the gear back in later

all ready to be fitted with the shorter shafts and tubes

time to put it back together!

clean and oil. with gear oil, all parts before fitting

before fitting the side gears, if they have been removed, make sure that the 'spider' gears are in the correct position! otherwise the side gears wont fit in fully

fit side gear

insert fulcrum shims?

insert driveshaft, be carefull that the fulcrum shims dont turn while the shaft is inserted, ensure that the shaft is inserted fully

fit the thrust washer

now fit the circlip
check you get full movement in all directions and in a full arc

or you can fit the shaft to the side gear with the fulcrum shims out of the box then insert as a unit - carefull to move everything together, theres nothing holding it other than the oil!

fit new gaskets
remember to use the same number of gaskets as came off

i tighten the nuts and then check that the driveshaft/tube can drop steadily and smoothly, from a raised position, not drop like a stone! nor stay where you leave it!

and tighten cover nuts to correct torque
