Re: 86 Polo - Front Wheel Bearings

Picture doesn't work on my phone mate but they usually need a hydraulic press to get them in and out.

Re: 86 Polo - Front Wheel Bearings

Ok can see what you mean now im on a pc! It's actually a one piece bearing, I guess you've just had one half of it out. From memory it should be a twin taper roller so you will need to take the knuckle off in order to get the inner half of the bearing out. Then you'll need to have the outer casing of the bearing pressed out and the new bearing pressed in.

I think SD has a press now but no idea how powerful it is :-)

its a ball bearing /cage type. so I need more taking apart-a-bit ... hmmm

I'd like to see an exploded in print ! see if there is another way - not the 'propper' way

I'll take the drive shaft off in the morning, and see what it looks like from the other side

Ah ok, it a twin row angular contact ball bearing then

Top one:
SNR Auto Aftermarket - Generation 1

The pic on the vw parts system just shows a complete bearing

I think you'll struggle getting it in/out without a press though

Re: 86 Polo - Front Wheel Bearings

i've got them in and out without a press used a big socket as a drift and hit it with hammer till it came out put the new one in using a large long nut and bolt and some big washers, just have to make sure it goes in level.
